~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~THE CONTINUING SAGA OF AN IRISH MAN ON THE DOLE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For anyone outside the UK or Ireland, the DOLE is a welfare payment for unemployed people until they are able to find a job.~~~~Please note that this blog was written to be read in a strong north Donegal accent, so some of the grammar and spelling will reflect this.
Jessy and Fessy
AM Donaghey
Two ladies lived down by the sea, on a cottage by the shore.
With an open hearth and an open heart, and welcome to their door.
Always a smile to every child and kind words for every sole
As the years go by and life stands still, burning turf and lumps of coal.
They would talk of folk, when they were young And the life that they once lived
And tails of fun and summertime’s and the joy of being a kid
They’re now gone years, with our prayer and tears, but their memory lingers on
Those sisters have enriched our lives, with kindness and their song.
